Ask, Seek, Knock

I had such a wonderful Bible reading this morning ,
and I just want to share it to anyone who cares to read this!

Ask, and it will be given to you;
Seek, and you will find;
Knock, and it will be opened to you.

For everyone who asks receives,
and he who seeks finds,
and to him who knocks it will be opened.

Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone?
Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he?
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will your Father in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!
– Matthew 7: 7-11 NASB

[ Ask not, and you receive not ]

I don’t remember who said that quote to my husband and I, but it was recent, and it stuck.
Today’s Bible verses is just wonderful! God has these promises for us! FOR US! His children!
Yes God knows our hearts, He knows our wants and He knows our needs.
But He wants to hear it from you! God wants a relationship with us!
A relationship simply will not work and grow if there is no communication.
As I prayed to my Lord about what my heart desires,
I prayed specifically! He knows everything, but He wants to hear it directly from me!

” …Ask and it will be given unto you “
Yes that is a quote from Jesus himself
(of course translated into English if you want to be technical about it)
but don’t be surprised if you don’t get exactly what you want.
You see, God is not a genie in a bottle. He is not Santa Claus.

” For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.
For as heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways.
– Isaiah 55:8-9

God only wants what is best for us.
As humans, we can only see what’s in front of us.
If I got exactly what I wanted as a teenager,
I would have been knocked up at a young age and married to the wrong person.
The thought of that just makes me sick!
I would have missed all the blessings that God had for me!
If I always got what I wanted, I wouldn’t be who I am today!
I would be a spoilt brat who thinks the world revolves around me!
God sees beyond what we see!
We think we know what is best for us, but we simply can’t know,
because we don’t know our future!

“Seek, and you will find”
Sometime’s God’s answer is “NO”. That’s not what we want to hear, but again,
God knows what’s best for us.
Just as a parent, when I say no to my toddler, I have good reasons.
She may not understand, that drinking chocolate milk all through the night will give her cavities
and destroy her teeth. She just sees what she wants, right here and right now.
We may not understand why God says no, or why He takes things or people away from us,
but if we SEEK GOD, Seek His face, His presence, His knowledge, His plan before us,
then we will be able to align our understanding with Him.

” But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved,
that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness,
but is patient toward you,  not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.”
– 2 Peter 3:8-9

Don’t trust in your understanding, cause as humans, we are so limited in our knowledge!
Seek God and when your eyes are opened to His ways,
then you will understand everything in due time!

“Knock, and it will be opened unto you”
Jesus uses a metaphor in hopes to help us understand.
Asking involves verbally speaking to God.
Seeking involves your mind. Focusing your heart and mind on God.
Knocking involves physical action.

If I am in need of a job, sure asking God is great, praying consistently for God to provide the right job for me is great, but if I am not physically taking action on looking for a job,
then what’s the point? I can’t simply have interviews while being in my pajamas in bed.

If you don’t simply live the life God requires, then your asking and seeking is all for naught!
You can’t just talk to God like He owes you something. You need to show God that He is your Lord and Savior and that you want what He wants!

” Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.”
– Proverbs 3:5-6

I have not had the easiest life. I have been through the worst days, but with the help of God,
I have overcome those days and developed into a better person.
One simply cannot gain strength without your emotions being tested,
as one cannot build muscle without physical excercise.
One cannot gain wisdom and understanding without learning and
experiencing mistakes and wrong choices. Whether it was your own mistakes or someone elses.

Most adults could say, I wish I knew then what I know now.
I look back and am embarrassed with my old self. Seriously.
I am happier now than I have ever been,
and it’s simply because of what God has taught me over the years!
Life is not meant to be easy, if it was, then we wouldn’t be who we are.
What kind of character building will an easy life bring?

It’s been a long time since I have deeply dug into God’s Word, like today.
I am ashamed to admit that.
Today’s Bible reading was from a Bible app on my phone. So simple.
It lead to me wanting to read more and to have the desire to share what I am reading!
I have missed this excitement and love for God’s Word!

If you enjoyed reading this today, despite it’s long length,
let me know if you want me to do more of this!
If you are in need of someone to talk to, to confide in, and someone to pray for you,
you are more than welcome to come to me!
I am not perfect, far from it!
But I am a child of God, and I know He requires me to share His love to everyone!

Don’t forget to ASK,SEEK,KNOCK and TRUST GOD!
May God Bless you!

Thanks for reading!
