Spring? Is that you?

It’s a little rainy outside but with this temperature,
it is another beautiful spring day!
Wait a minute… it’s the middle of winter!

2 weeks ago, we had freezing temperatures and snow!
Well most places got snow.
Our area got 20 minutes of sleet and ice. So disappointing.
After the crazy antarctic temperatures, we have had almost 2 full weeks of spring weather.
Our family has definitely taken advantage of being outside!

The long weekend of Martin Luther King day started with
burning the 100 million boxes we collected since Ellie’s birthday in October of 2016.
The day after her birthday party there was a burn ban all through the state,
so Christmas passes by and we added more
Amazon and Christmas present boxes to our collection.

Sunday before MLK Day, we had an impromptu photoshoot after church.
Ellie wanted to help her daddy clean out the fire pit before we went to lunch.
After lunch we usually take a nap.
It was too pretty outside so we pulled her crib mattress out and we took a nap on the back porch!
It was glorious!
It was days like that Sunday afternoon where I wish we had a hammock!

Martin Luther King day finally rolls around! Another day off at home!
We had a wondeful time eating breakfast at the back porch and
riding Ellie’s little Jeep and VW Bug.
My favourite part of the day was creating a dreamy little day bed outside with Ellie!
I was hoping that she would actually fall asleep and take a nap on it,
but she was too wired and wanted to play!

As frustrating as it is not knowing how to dress for Alabama’s crazy weather,
I am so grateful that we do get breaks from the freezing temperatures.
I love that we were able to get out of the house and enjoy the outdoors
with flips flops and t-shirts on!

For those that love winter, you’re crazy! But I do see the good things!
I love the winter woods, drinking hot mocha on the couch while covered with a blanket,
bonfires, scarves, boots and snow (if we do get it) and
that the snakes are having their winter nighty night time underground!
But at this moment, I’m going to enjoy not having to
wear several layers of clothing and a heavy coat !

Happy SPRINTER ( spring/winter) in Alabama!
